The High Line Park Postcards
This set of postcards was issued to advertise a public works project in New York City. The project is The High Line a 1.45 mile long elevated rail structure on Manhattan's West Side. The railway line was built in the 1930's but no trains have run on it since 1980. The High Line is now being converted into a park in the sky. The first section , from Gansevoort Street to West 20th Street is expected to open in 2008.
The first card shows a photograph of by photographer Joel Sternfeld of plants growing on the abandoned High Line. The second postcard shows an architects design image of the park.
