This modern postcard features a replica of a painting by founder of French impressionism Claude Monet (1840-1926) entitled Glacons Sur La Seine a Bougival, which means Ice on the Seine Bougival, painted sometime around 1867. Bougival is a village in the Ile-de-France region in north-central France about 10 miles from Paris where many of French masters painted.
The painting is done in shades of white and gray and depicts a couple standing on the snowy bank of the icy Seine river.
The postcard was printed in France in 2007.
