This modern postcard features an image of Dorothy Horan, best known as Dovima, standing with several elephants. Dovima was a supermodel of the 1950s. The gown she is wearing was the first evening dress designed for Christian Dior by his new assistant, Yves Saint-Laurent.
The photograph, titled Dovima with the Elephants was taken at the Cirque d'hiver, Paris, in August 1955 by fashion photographer Richard Avedon. The image is one of the most famous fashion photographs ever taken.
