This modern postcard is a reproduction of a painting entitled On the Southern Plains created in 1907 by American painter Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909). The scene is an American troop of soldiers on horseback with guns raised in preparation for battle against the Plains Indians during the 1860s.
Remington was also an illustrator, sculptor and writer who enjoyed creating depictions of the old American west.
The postcard was published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in 2012.
