Philip Larkin Postcard
Humphrey Ocean Artist
This reproduction postcard depicts a portrait of Philip Larkin (1922-1985) wearing a suit and a tie and sitting in an armchair. The poet was one of the great English poets of the twentieth century. Larkin's public persona was that of the no-nonsense, solitary Englishman who disliked fame and had no patience for the trappings of the public literary life.
This portrait was painted by Humphrey Ocean in 1984 and is currently held at the National Gallery in London.
